Today I found myself looking at my kitchen and thinking, “Hmm, definitely needs some color.” I do find that when I shop, I typically pick out neutrals so that I won’t have to worry about “matching” everything perfectly – but apparently the cool thing about colorful kitchen decor (coming from a 6-year old) is that it’s just more fun. I immediately ran towards Pinterest and searched for the top ideas for “colorful kitchens” and “bright kitchen decor” to see if there was anything that struck my fancy — here were my favorite results.
Honestly, I am just now starting to appreciate my kitchen (mainly because I did not spend much time in that space before) – but now I’m ready to face the fact that it just needs a little TLC.
The first kitchen idea appealed to me because I love that there are antiques, seemingly from all over the world, mixed with modern and repurposed decor – and look at that gorgeous floral chandelier. I definitely wouldn’t say that this style is exactly what I would go for, but I dig it.
The exposed cabinetry, stained glass windows over the full sized sink, and high ceilings are what drawn me to this pastel yellow kitchen. It definitely has the southern charm.

This colorful kitchen is a dream — where do I even start? The red appliances really spark a fire in my soul. I’ve always admired people who could pull off red anything – lipstick, appliances, whatever. It doesn’t matter, if it’s red then I like it.
Okay, surely there is a simple DIY sliding barn door tutorial for a rolling repurposed wood pantry door.
This style is way more bohemian than the rest, and that’s okay. I love everything about this colorful kitchen. It’s relaxed and efficient, the exposed wood ceiling reminds me driftwood and immediately calms my frantic nerves, and again — I love that not everything has to “match.”
There is a lot going on in this kitchen, I’m not going to lie. I wouldn’t say that I necessarily like all the different tile patterns – but I can say that I’m still drawn to the concept of mixing and matching style ideas (such as the checkerboard ceiling) to manifest a visually appealing kitchen.
Last but not least, a colorful kitchen can also be one that may not have brightly painted walls, but just a pop of color elsewhere – in this case, a storage cabinet! This bright yellow cabinet, topped with glassware and plants, gives the kitchen just what it needs to be the fun space that everyone will enjoy to be in.
